Disposable Colostomy Bag

A disposable colostomy bag (also called a colostomy pouch) is a medical pouch used to collect stool from a surgically created opening in the abdomen called a stoma. It is attached to the skin around the stoma using a skin-friendly adhesive baseplate.

1. Closed-End (Disposable) Pouch

   • Single-use

   • Removed and discarded when full

   • Best for more formed stool

2. Drainable Pouch

   • Has an opening at the bottom to empty

   • Can be reused for 1–3 days before changing

3. One-Piece System

   • Bag and adhesive base combined

   • Simple and easy to apply

4. Two-Piece System

   • Separate baseplate and pouch

   • Pouch can be changed without removing base
